Steel tubing for agricultural equipment.

From 20-gage galvanized rounds for poultry housing to 1/4″-wall hot-rolled rectangles for implement frames — Major Metals manufactures the tube that feeds, houses, and works American agriculture, mill-direct from Mansfield, Ohio.

What We Run for Ag

Two very different tubes, one mill.

Agricultural equipment splits into two product families. Housing and handling systems — poultry and turkey houses, livestock feeder tube, dairy equipment — run light-gage galvanized rounds where corrosion resistance and clean ends matter. Implements and fertilizer application equipment run heavy hot-rolled rectangles where section strength matters. We tool for both.

Housing & Feeders
18–20 ga rounds · 1″–2.375″ OD
Implement Frames
HR rectangles · to 1/4″ wall
Coatings
Galvanized G40–G90+
End Conditions
Dedimpled · Flash controlled

Applications we supply: broiler and turkey housing tube, livestock feeder tube, dairy equipment, feed-service systems, fertilizer spreader frames, and tillage-implement tube. Specs: ASTM A513 mechanical, A500 structural for frames, and A787 galvanized mechanical for coated-inside-and-out requirements.

FAQ

Ag tubing, answered.

What steel tubing is used in agricultural equipment?

It splits by application. Poultry and livestock housing, feeder systems, and dairy equipment run light-gage galvanized round tube (18–20 ga, roughly 1″–2.375″ OD). Implement and fertilizer-equipment frames run heavier hot-rolled rectangular tube — up to 1/4″ wall and 2″×6″ sections. Major Metals manufactures both, to ASTM A513, A500, and A787.

Do you make galvanized tubing for outdoor and washdown farm environments?

Yes — precoated galvanized in coating weights from G40 through G90 and beyond (up to G210 across the product line), plus ASTM A787 galvanized mechanical tubing where the spec requires coated tube inside and out.

How light a gage can you run for poultry and cage systems?

Down to 20 ga (0.035″ wall) in small-OD rounds — the light-gage tube used in broiler and turkey housing systems — with secondary forming and deburring processes available for cage-system tube.

Can you dedimple and control flash for parts that get further processed?

Yes. Dedimpling on both ends and controlled flash are standard requests from our agricultural customers, and we hold them to spec-sheet requirements. Tarped-truck shipping and customer-specific loading patterns are also accommodated.

What is your minimum order for agricultural tubing?

A truckload — roughly 45,000 lb. Send your spec and quantity with your RFQ and we'll confirm, along with current lead time.
