FAQ

Round tubing, answered.

What sizes of round steel tubing does Major Metals produce?

Rounds from 1″ to 3½″ OD, wall thickness .035″–.250″, in mill lengths from 5 to 40 ft, on five ERW tube mills in Mansfield, Ohio.

What OD tolerance does round tubing hold?

A513 mechanical holds ±0.005″ on rounds from 1″ to 2″ OD, stepping to ±0.009″ at 3½″. A500 structural allows ±0.5% of OD at 1.900″ and smaller, ±0.75% at 2.000″ and larger. Wall tolerance is ±10% of nominal in both.

What wall thicknesses are available in round tubing?

.035″ to .250″ overall. In A513, Type 1 (hot-rolled) covers 0.065″–0.250″ and Type 2 (cold-rolled) covers 0.035″–0.134″ — so light walls run Type 2 and heavy walls run Type 1.

How straight is the tubing?

A513 round straightness is held to 0.030″ over 3 ft per ASTM A513-24.

What is your minimum order for round tubing?
